I still remember those days (roughly when i was in std. 6th), when i used to wait eagerly for a TV serial ( called Khoj), where prof Yash Pal would be coming with his really exciting science and space related facts… the way he used to throw qns and answer them, was so cool that i would be saying each time.. wow! this is so simple!!.. and i would be repeating sm of those experiments which i could do, like… why air bubbles move upward?

Being India’s most widely known scientist ( a well-known astrophysicist and the man responsible for setting up the first satellite education system in the country ), he is still trying to fill the philosophical voids where there are only islands of knowledge and data with huge gaps in between… that implies a change in Education System…
Today, Apart from the formal education imparted in the schools and universities in India, we also have countless informal institutions of education such as those of the crafts-persons, the musicians, skilled labourers and many others. Their skills also involve the knowledge about all those sciences, which for instance an engineer, doctor, or architect needs. We have to take away the burden from the shoulders of the students and give them the real joy of learning and understanding. Many of our scientists themselves may not have the scientific temper, since today we have a trend of specialization and super-specialization. So, we need to integrate these all!
Recently, i heard from our respected President that to make india fully developed (the target year being 2020), we must implement three things: An Education system with values (for making a knowledge society), job for all and proper utilization of the available resources … Very much appreciated by Prof Yash… He adds:
“Human beings are treated as rough balls who are polished into smooth ball bearings at school. The result is that they all start looking alike. We try to create uniform kind of people, destroying their creativity, crushing their natural curiosity. Creativity emerges from crazy people and not from ball bearings.” With all respects to the first citizen of the nation, he is perhaps one of the craziest people around, says Prof. Yashpal about President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
In some way, we can say that the future belongs to the right brained persons!!
Test now whether u r right or left brained!
Here’s my result:
| You Are 40% Left Brained, 60% Right Brained |
The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others. If you’re left brained, you are likely good at math and logic. Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet. The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility. |
