It’s raining heavily outside and I am just thinking about the nature, the time and the havoc it will bring to us someday sometime…
Was just reading a book on awakening Indians to India and got to know this wonderful concept of time valid alltime…
Our Indian visionaries had discovered this fact a long long time back that “Time is not a linear phenomenon but it’s cyclic”. Not only the nature of time but they also discovered the precise calculation of this cycle and its parts.
( In terms of Sanskrit, “Kalachakra” and “Kala kalayati sarvani bhutani” => Time, which is regarded as one that destroys all beings, is not a linear but a cyclic phenomena.)
i.e The course of time passes through creation and dissolution and again regeneration.
In Indian astronomy, the concept of Yuga is unique. Our four fundamental Yugas and their durations are:
Kritayuga: 17 28 000 years
Tretayuga: 12 96 000 years
Dwaparayuga: 8 64 000 years
Kaliyuga: 4 32 000
Kaliyuga:Dwaparyuga:Tretayuga:Kritayuga :: 1:2:3:4 (Amazing ratio)
Total of these four Yugas = 43 20 000 years = 1 Maha yuga
And 1 Mahayuga = Time of evolution of life on earth
71 Maha yuga + 1 Kritayuga = 30 84 48 000 years = 1 Manvantara
1 Manvantara = Time span roughly taken by sun to complete one revolution around the centre of the milkyway.
And 14 Manvantaras + 1 Kritayuga or 1000 Mahayugas or 4 32 00 00 000 years = Kalpa.
This time span compares with the age of universe.
Looking at the huge span of this cycle, it’s really amazing to know that how Indian astronomers could imagine and calculate it so precisely!!
